Alumnus Thanks UAlbany for Path to Success

"Upon graduating from Shenendehowa High School in 2003, I was informed that I would receive the Capital District New York Giants Scholar Athlete Scholarship. This award was both an honor and a blessing for me to receive.

Over the course of my collegiate career, I received more than just an education. I have cultivated relationships with teammates, coaches, professors and acquaintances that will last me a lifetime. I competed at the highest level of athletics earning the right to wear three America East [Conference] Championship rings over my four years of school … I have never participated with a group of men that I respect more than my teammates, and a group of individuals I admire more than my coaches.

Last summer and fall, I completed my undergraduate degree and graduated in December with a degree in urban and regional planning. On January 14th, I received a full-time planning position from the Town of Malta. The job appointment exceeded my wildest expectations for employment and I owe my current position at the Town to your generosity.

For the opportunity you provided me to spend four years equipping myself with the skills that will radiate through my life, I am beyond gratitude. Through athletics and education I have attained the leadership, determination, loyalty, understanding and patience that are necessary skills to achieve success. Thank you for the opportunity to excel, I hope to use the gift of knowledge wisely and effectively."

With the utmost respect,
Caleb Stratton
