Marjorie Bishop Nelson graduated from State College for Teachers in 1942. She then attended Officer Training School at Mount Holoyke College in 1943, and received a commission as an Ensign in the WAVES. She was stationed at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, FL for the next two and a half years, where she worked in communications. During that time, she was promoted to Lieutenant, junior grade. Nelson, as an ensign in 1943, is on the left in the second photograph.
