Donald F. Favreau, a member of the class of 1954 and an emeritus faculty member at the University at Albany, served as a ski-trooper in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. The ski-troopers trained at Camp Hale, Colorado, where they learned to survive and fight in a mountainous, winter environment.
