Commander Robert E. Connors majored in
psychology at SUNY Albany and received a BA in 1978. At SUNY, he organized
and managed the Five Quad Volunteer Ambulance Service, serving as
its Vice President and working to raise money for the organization
to buy its first ambulance. This experience led to his interest in
healthcare administration. He completed a maters degree in health
care administration at George Washington University in 1980. While
completing this program, Connors was convinced to seek a commission
in the Navy Medical Service Corps, which he was offered and accepted
in 1980. Commissioned as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Medical Service
Corps, Connors rose though the ranks, retiring in December 2000, after
20 years of service and leadership in the Medical Service Corps. This
photograph was taken at the US Marine Corps Ball in 1994. |
