After completing a BS at Albany Wilfred C. Burton graduated from
the Officers' Candidate School at Camp Davis, NC and served in
the 240th Searchlight Battalion in Los Angeles. In 1945, he joined
the English Department at West Point Military Academy, where he
remained until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel 22 years
later. Shortly after retirement, he was presented with the Legion
of Merit, the Army's second highest award for achievement.
