Findlay Cockrell, Special Escort

Founder of the Troy’s Music at Noon series and Capital District performer extraordinaire, Findlay Cockrell attended Harvard College ‘57 and the Juilliard School of Music, where he received his bachelor and master’s degrees in piano. Retired for more than two years, he taught at the University at Albany for 40 years and has given numerous solo recital performances and Chamber music concerts. He has been guest soloist with the San Francisco, Albany, Schenectady, Jackson, Michigan and Plymouth Symphonies, among others. He also has performed in Albany’s sister city, Tula, Russia; the Barbados; St. Lucia; and in the San Francisco Bay Area. A recipient of many distinctions and awards, including New York’s Concert Artist Guild Debut prize and UAlbany’s Collins Fellowship, Professor Cockrell enjoys sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge with tour participants to enrich their appreciation of the history and splendor of classical music.

 

April 10 Overnight flight to Austria with meals & amenities.

April 11 Transfer to Salzburg with city orientation en route to hotel.

April 12 Half-day escorted tour including Mozart’s house & Hohensalzburg Fortress. Afternoon free. Evening performance at Mirabell Palace (Breakfast included).

April 13 Full-day “Sound of Music” tour including Mirabell & Hellbrun Gardens, St. Michael's Church & Nonnberg Abbey and Lake Funschl. Dinner and concert at The Fortress (Breakfast and Dinner included).

April 14 Depart for Vienna with a stop to explore the Melk Abbey. After check-in, free time in Vienna. Mozart Orchestra Concert in the evening with transfer back to hotel (Breakfast and Lunch included).

April 15 Full-day tour of Vienna including St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Museum of Ancient Instruments, Mozart’s House and Schoenbrunn Palace. Hofburg Orchestra Concert in the evening with transfer back to hotel (Breakfast included).

April 16 Morning tour of the fabulous State Opera House. Afternoon free. Attend evening performance at The Volksoper with transfer back to hotel (Breakfast included).

April 17 Full day at leisure. Enjoy some of the famous museums and other features of this fabulous imperial city. Many optional tours are available, so enjoy Vienna. Farewell dinner in the evening in the Grinzing Wine District with transfer back to the hotel (Breakfast and Dinner included).

April 18 Transfer for return flight to USA filled with wondrous memories.
