Reaching Higher, Achieving More is an alumni campaign designed to showcase
the remarkable career paths of the University at Albany graduates.  They are entrepreneurs, educators, lawyers, corporate leaders, entertainers, doctors,
social workers, authors, policymakers and more, and their impact is truly global. 
The alumni inducted into this campaign are points of pride for the entire UAlbany community.  The University has invited back four alumni, Catherine Bertini ’71, Gregory Maguire ’76, Avery Lipman ’88 and Monte Lipman ’86 who are currently
in the campaign to explain how they reached high and achieved more since graduating from the University at Albany.

We invite you to a staged reading of Larry Loebell’s “House Divided,” which
revolves around the around the Goldstein family.  The family is torn apart when
older brother, Louis, decides to embrace Jewish Orthodoxy and move to Israel
to join the Israeli army while younger brother, Douglas, builds his life around peace activism.  “House, Divided” is a challenging and timely examination of family, faith, and politics, and how the desire to distance ourselves from our past may bring it closer to home in the future. University Art Museum Tour
Art Museum
Join Museum Director Janet Riker for an informal tour of two exhibitions exploring
the evocative power of the human face: Andy Warhol: Portraits from the Warhol Photographic Legacy Program –  featuring 102 original Polaroids and 51 gelatin
silver prints from a recent gift to the University Art Collections from The Andy
Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in honor of the Foundation’s 20th anniversary.  From 1970 to 1987, Warhol took countless photographs.  Many were studies for his paintings and depict actors, models, business tycoons and socialites that were part of his world, while others present little known or even unidentified sitters.  The gift comes to the museum through the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program with the goal of providing greater access to this important yet relatively unknown body of Warhol’s artwork; Straight Face: Portraits from the University Art Collections – featuring formal and informal portraits selected from the University at Albany Art Collections.  The exhibition will present a wide range of paintings, drawings, prints and photographs and include work by Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Larry Clark, Ralph Gibson, Lotte Jacobi, Alex Katz, Mary Ellen Mark, Helmut Newton,
Edward Steichen, among others.  Registration required. Free.

Empire Commons is one of two apartment complexes that make up the University Apartments the other being Freedom Apartments.  Empire Commons, which
opened in the fall of 2002, houses 1200 students.  The Community Building,
located in the front of the complex, provides meeting rooms for social and educational purposes, as well as a fitness center and a game area.

Intrigued by green technology and energy independence?  If so, join SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor John Delano from the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences in the College of Arts and Science as he explores changes
that any homeowner can implement to create a healthy, more environmentally-conscious living space.  Professor Delano’s lecture will explore his own family’s commitment to living a greener sustainable lifestyle with its related health and economic benefits.  The Delano family now generates 40% of their home’s annual electricity through a photovoltaic ‘solar panel’ system.

The $45 million, 117,000-square-foot building is the only building dedicated to
cancer research in the region. Its mission is to conduct cutting-edge research
that can be directly applied to patient care. The Center has one of the country’s most comprehensive core facilities, providing researchers with molecular biology, proteomics, microarray, transgenics, laser capture microdissection, flow cytometry, cell sorting, and bioinformatics services. The tour will begin at the main entrance
