Join Museum Director Janet Riker for an informal tour of two exhibitions exploring
the evocative power of the human face: Andy Warhol: Portraits from the Warhol Photographic Legacy Program – featuring 102 original Polaroids and 51 gelatin
silver prints from a recent gift to the University Art Collections from The Andy
Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in honor of the Foundation’s 20th anniversary. From 1970 to 1987, Warhol took countless photographs. Many were studies for his paintings and depict actors, models, business tycoons and socialites that were part of his world, while others present little known or even unidentified sitters. The gift comes to the museum through the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program with the goal of providing greater access to this important yet relatively unknown body of Warhol’s artwork; Straight Face: Portraits from the University Art Collections – featuring formal and informal portraits selected from the University at Albany Art Collections. The exhibition will present a wide range of paintings, drawings, prints and photographs and include work by Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Larry Clark, Ralph Gibson, Lotte Jacobi, Alex Katz, Mary Ellen Mark, Helmut Newton,
