How do I get started?
All UAlbany alumni can take advantage of what the Online Community has to offer, but each individual must first register on line.

Click on the "Click Here to Join Now" link on the OLC homepage. Search for your name on the list of eligible members. Once you find your name, enter your birth date. Proceed with your registration by choosing a User ID and password and completing a few other pieces of information. Use this User ID and password anytime you want to access the community.

What if I can’t find my name when I try to register?
It is best to search with your LAST NAME only. If your name has changed since graduation, search with your LAST NAME as a STUDENT. If you still cannot find your name, contact the Alumni Relations Office at (518) 442-3083 or alumni@uamail.albany.edu.

How do I choose my User ID?
Your ID must be between 6 and 20 characters long of alphanumeric characters and underscores. (i.e. excluding spaces, commas, or periods) NOTE: Please choose your User ID carefully as it will become the first part of your Permanent E-Mail address should you decide to take advantage of the Permanent E-Mail forwarding service.

What fees are associated with the Online Community?
None! The community is free of charge to all alumni.

Who is in the Online Alumni Directory?
All UAlbany alumni are listed in the Online Directory, unless they have specifically requested to be excluded from the online directory or the 2000 print directory. If you are not listed, but would like to be, please let us know so the oversight can be corrected.

How do I add/remove my contact information to/from the Online Alumni Directory?
Alumni have complete control over whether their contact information appears in the Online Alumni Directory. You also have control over what information appears in the directory.

If you do not wish to have any information appear in the directory, register for the community and then use the online directory to review/update your listing. By simply checking one box, your entire directory listing will be hidden.

You can elect to hide just certain information from being viewed by others. To do so, register for the community and then use the online directory to review/update your listing. Simply check the "hide" box next to each line of information you wish to have hidden. We strongly encourage you to display your e-mail address for networking purposes.

To make changes or hide information:

1. Click on the "Online Directory" link on the left side of the Online
Community homepage.
2. Click on "View/Update Your Online Directory Listing."
3. Complete any changes you would like to make to your profile.

 

Are address changes sent to the University reflected in the Online Directory and visa versa?
Yes, within one week changes sent to the University are reflected in the online directory and changes to the directory are reflected in the University's alumni database.

How does permanent e-mail forwarding work?
One of the most popular features of the On-Line Community is the E-mail Forwarding. You can register for a UAlbany alumni e-mail forwarding address (UserID@alumni.albany.edu) in the Online Community by clicking the E-mail Forwarding button on the left side of the OLC homepage.

This is not an e-mail account however. When you give this address to your friends and family, your e-mail will be forwarded to your existing e-mail account at home, work or on the web. When you change e-mail accounts, you can easily update your address in the Online Community so that your e-mail will be forwarded to your UAlbany E-mail Forwarding Address.

NOTE: The first part of your e-mail forwarding address is the UserID that you choose when you register with the Online Community. This address prefix CANNOT be changed once you've registered for E-mail Forwarding.
