Job Listing/Posting Services

  • MonsterTRAK - (Formerly JobTRAK and Monster.com) This nationwide internet service lists more than 200,000 job openings. It is currently offered free of charge to alumni. Companies have the option of listing positions specifically for UAlbany alumni or students. Alumni also have the option of uploading their resumes and cover letters to the MonsterTRAK system.

    To access MonsterTRAK:

    1. Visit the Career Development Center's Web page.

    2. You will be asked to enter your student ID number. Enter "danealum." Note that this id is case sensitive.

3. Complete the regsitration process.

  • America's Job Bank - America's Job Bank is a partnership between the US Department of Labor and the state operated public Employment Service. Since 1979, the states have cooperated to exchange information to offer employers national exposure of their job openings. In the spring of 1998 the additional service of posting resumes from job seekers was initiated.

    The America's Job Bank computerized network links state Employment Service offices to provide job seekers with a large pool of active job opportunities available and nationwide exposure for their resumes. Most of the jobs listed on America's Job Bank are full time listing and the majority are in the private sector. The job openings come from all over the country and represent all types of work, from professional and technical to blue collar, from management to clerical and sales.

    There is no charge to either employers who list their job vacancies or to job seekers who utilize America's Job Bank to locate employment. The services provide by America's Job Bank and each state's Employment Service program are funded through Unemployment Insurance taxes paid by employers.

  • Online Community Job Listing/Posting Service - Post your resume or search for job opportunities on this site, part of UAlbany's online community. The site typically features hundreds of job openings from around the country. You can search by region, state, country or job type.

  • Other Internet Sites for Employment - This site links to a variety of web sites that provide general job resources as well as resources by industry, region and much more.


Career Counseling

If you are interested in pursuing more extensive career advisement, the Alumni Association has contracted with Careers In Transition to provide counseling services to UAlbany alumni at discounted rates. Careers in Transition is an Albany-based career counseling firm with years of experience in helping clients develop and fulfill their career objectives. A three-session package (4 1/2 hours) is $325. CareerSearch

CareerSearch provides information on potential employers and contacts in a variety of industries both nationally and internationally. In addition, it also offers a very helpful salary wizard. To access CareerSearch, you must first register for MonsterTRAK. (See directions above.) When you have completed your registration, click on the "Job Search and Services" link on the My Profile page. You will see a "Campus Links" section in the right-hand column. Click on "CareerSearch." If you are already registered for MonsterTRAK, simply sign in. You will be brought directly to the page with the CareerSearch link.


AlumNet: UAlbany’s Career Network
AlumNet is a online database of UAlbany alumni who can provide valuable connections and information on job search strategies, specific companies, industry trends and professional organizations. Alumni can access the network through the UAlbany alumni online community. Register for the community at http://www.alumniconnections.com/olc/pub/UAB/, then follow the Career Services link. Queries are easy to structure; answers are quick and precise. You can enter up to nine search criteria to locate alumni who can give you the information you need. Search by job type, job title, key words, area of expertise or even company name. Search by city or around the world.  


Credential Files
Credential Files can be established to house Reference Letters only for University at Albany students or alumni for the following reasons: application requests for K-12 and University administrative and teaching positions; and candidates seeking entrance into graduate and professional school programs. Career Services does not retain reference letters indefinitely. Credential Files will be retained for five years after you open the file or five years after date of last use ofthe file. Career/Job Fairs
There are a number of career fairs offered at UAlbany that are appropriate for recent alumni and students. Career Services hosts a large career fair in February in the SEFCU arena that attracts more than 100 employers. Delta Sigma Pi and Career Services also sponsor another fair in September. This day-long event involves more than 70 employers. Both fairs are open to students in all majors and alumni. The SUNY State-Wide Job Fair, usually held in April at a SUNY institution, attracts more than 100 employers to discuss full-time, intern and co-op opportunities with SUNY students and alumni. Career Library
The library, housed in Career Services, contains books, video cassettes, newspapers, periodicals, a job vacancy file and an internship file which provide information to support the career planning process and the job search. The collection includes information on trends, salaries and employment outlooks. Call (518) 442-5515 for more details.


Company Research Internet Sites
Review company profiles and financial information on thousands of companies. Most sites allow you to search by company name or a specific category.


Relocation and Salary Information
This site provides links to help you compute cost-of-living comparisons, estimate relocation costs, and figure salary comparisons for hundreds of cities nationwide. You can access hundreds of salary surveys or get a profile of the state and location you may be relocating to.


School of Business Career Services
The School has established an Alumni Office of Career Services aimed at increasing opportunities for business students and graduates. Services and programs being offered include lectures, round table discussions, special mailings, company lists and resume distribution. Contact Assistant Dean John Levato at j.levato@albany.edu.
