Janet I. Angelis Associate Director Albany Institute for Research in Education

Janet Angelis is Associate Director of the Albany Institute for Research in Education (AIRE) in the University at Albany’s School of Education. Her professional career has spanned the worlds of practice and research, and she has spent the past 25 years actively working to connect the two.

A former middle school teacher, she understands schools and classrooms and their demands. She is also a seasoned communicator who has been responsible for bringing this understanding to researchers and developers at a regional educational laboratory and a university-based research center -- and bringing research results back to practitioners and policymakers.

Her publications bridge the academic (through publications such as the Middle School Journal, Journal of Nutrition Education, and Phi Delta Kappan), to policymakers (e.g., Education Week commentary), and to parents (e.g., Our Children).
