Classroom Level

Collaborate regularly within grade levels and across grade levels

In high performing schools, teachers' collaboration is not limited to catching another teachers' ear in the hallway. Rather, teachers participate in regularly scheduled meetings not only at their grade level but across grade levels. Discussions in these meetings center around improving student learning.

On Target

Missing the Mark

Teachers consistently communicate across grades and within grades.

Collaboration occurs "catch as catch can" across grade levels.

Smallwood Drive, Amherst Central School District, structures monthly staff meetings to foster reflection on instruction.
