Teaching Mathematics for Understanding

background image

The University at Albany and City School Districts of Albany and Schenectady formed a partnership to provide professional development to teachers in the city schools. Based on a comprehensive needs assessment, UA faculty and graduate students from the School of Education and College of Arts and Sciences, as well as master teachers from the districts, offered a series of intensive summer institutes, on-line short courses and ongoing seminars to teachers throughout the school year.

All content is aligned with NYS standards. In addition, UA faculty offered guidance on the development of a plan to evaluate the results.
