Capital District Writing Project

background image

In partnership with the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center (GCRTC), the University at Albany’s School of Education reestablished the Capital District Writing Project (CDWP) as a National Writing Project local site in 2004. Through summer institutes, weekend retreats, monthly meetings, and related activities, the project provides teacher-centered professional development that seeks to improve teaching and learning in K-12 and university classrooms; extend the uses of writing in all disciplines; provide schools, colleges, and universities with an effective professional development model; and identify, celebrate, and enhance the professional role of successful classroom teachers.

Director:
Robert Yagelski, Department of Educational Theory and Practice
Co-Director:
  Carol Foreman Pemberton
Funders:
The National Writing Project, the University at Albany, and the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center, since 2004
