In partnership with the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center (GCRTC), the University at Albany’s School of Education reestablished the Capital District Writing Project (CDWP) as a National Writing Project local site in 2004. Through summer institutes, weekend retreats, monthly meetings, and related activities, the project provides teacher-centered professional development that seeks to improve teaching and learning in K-12 and university classrooms; extend the uses of writing in all disciplines; provide schools, colleges, and universities with an effective professional development model; and identify, celebrate, and enhance the professional role of successful classroom teachers.
