Working with colleagues from 3 other institutions of higher education, Assistant Professor Amanda Nickerson has been studying ways to prevent school violence and support the victims of bullying. Support from the Society for the Study of School Psychology has enabled them to critically review the literature on school-based prevention and intervention programs; review bullying victimization and related research instruments; develop and pilot test intervention modules designed to enhance the social supports of victims; and identify and apply for additional funding to support further research.
