About Kristin:

Kristin is interested in basic and applied research within the realm of the anxiety disorders. She is also interested in doing research related to Acceptance and Mindfulness Based Therapies, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and in understanding how various processes within the context of ACT (e.g., experiential avoidance and cognitive fusion) may function alone or together in contributing to the anxiety disorders. Kristin received her Masters at the University at Albany in December of 2009 which focused on the role that experiential avoidance plays in mediating the relation between distress tolerance and anxiety. Prior to her graduate studies at the University at Albany, Kristin attended the University of California Los Angeles where she worked as an R.A. in several research labs, including a cognitive neuroscience and anxiety disorders lab, and as a lab manager for a behavioral neuroscience lab. In her spare time, Kristin enjoys watching movies, reading books, playing pool and traveling.

Current Project(s):

Kristin is currently preparing to propose her dissertation, a project examining the use of metaphor, and assisting in the production of video material for the Modular Online Acceptance & Commitment Therapy Intervention for OIF/OEF Veterans.
