Parents

The University at Albany attracts some of the most talented faculty and students from more than 100 countries. With 50 highly regarded majors and a world of opportunities in and out of the classroom, we prepare students to take their place and make a difference in the world.

Applying
UAlbany accepts applications on a rolling basis. There are slightly different procedures for students applying as freshmen, as transfer students, and as international students.

Visit Opportunities
As you navigate the college selection process with your child, we invite you to schedule a visit. It's the best way to see our exceptional facilities and meet a few of our students and faculty. Visit options include open houses, campus tours and more.

Financial Matters
UAlbany has been recognized as one of the nation's top colleges in both academics and affordability by Kiplinger's Personal Finance. Our costs are affordable, and we offer need-based financial aid opportunities as well. Once your child is enrolled, you can make payments, check your account, or set up a payment plan through our Student Accounts E-Pay website.

Safety
We care about your child's safety and work hard to promote a safe, secure campus environment. Our University Police Department operates around the clock, 365 days a year with professional law enforcement and security officers.

Student Life & Housing
Most undergraduates at UAlbany live in one of our residential complexes and choose from a variety of meal plans. Each of our dining halls offers a wide range of healthy options; in addition, students can use their Podium Account to buy food in local restaurants. Living-Learning Communities are also available to most students.

Parents Council
Once your child has enrolled at UAlbany, you'll want to join the Parents Council, an organization designed to keep you informed and engaged with the University.

Parents Handbook
From area attractions to curing homesickness, the Parents Handbook offers a wealth of useful information to parents of UAlbany students. Don't find the answer you need in the Handbook? Contact the Parent Liaison. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
