Conditional ESL Undergraduate Admissions
The University offers a conditional undergraduate admission option for freshman students only who do not meet the minimum English language requirement.
Students who have graduated from high school and attended any college or university after graduation must apply as transfer students and are not eligible for conditional admission. Applications from transfer students will not be accepted for the conditional admission program.
Students must complete an Undergraduate Application and an Intensive English Language Program (IELP) application. A fee of $180 ($50 for the undergraduate application and $130 for the IELP application) must be submitted with the application package and checks must be payable to University at Albany, not to SUNY ASC. All acceptance packages will be sent from the IELP office via express mail service.
If students meet the admission standards and are offered a conditional admission by the Undergraduate Admissions Office, they will be admitted to the IELP course of study and issued an I-20. Upon successful completion of IELP, achieving a 79 internet based TOEFL score or a 6.0 IELTS score, and having the recommendation of the Director of IELP, students will be able to matriculate as full-time undergraduate freshmen.
