The University at Albany is an internationally recognized public research institution located in the state capital of New York. Founded in 1844 and designated a university in 1962, UAlbany puts the world within reach for more than 17,300 students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Tuition & Financial Aid

For the 2012-13 academic year, undergraduates who are residents of New York pay $5,570; out-of-state undergraduates pay $13,380. Graduate tuition is $8,870 for New York residents and $15,160 for those who live out of state. Complete, up-to-date information regarding tuition and costs is available through Student Financial Services. The University also offers scholarships and financial aid for students who qualify.

Reputation

Kiplinger's Personal Finance "Best Values in Public Colleges, 2011-12" ranks the University at Albany as one of the nation's top colleges for excellence in academics and affordability, and Forbes magazine's latest survey of "Best Public Colleges," in 2009, places UAlbany in its top 100 "America's Best Public Colleges" list. Our College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering ranks number one in the world. And U.S. News & World Report ranks our graduate programs in criminal justice, information technology and public administration among the top 10 in the nation.

Programs of Study

The University offers more than 114 programs leading to master's and doctoral degrees. Undergraduates choose from 56 majors and 62 minors. A rigorous Honors College provides enriched opportunities for exceptionally motivated students.

Student Life

UAlbany students get involved in a variety of activities, from Greek life to musical groups to community service. Our Division for Student Success offers a range of support services and opportunities, from career services to residential life to orientation.

Athletics

UAlbany sports has eight men's and 11 women's teams competing at the NCAA Division I intercollegiate level. Seventeen of these 19 are members of the America East Conference, while football competes in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), and women's golf in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
