Elena Rodrigues Anderson Presidential Scholar Jason Behnke of Sidney, N.Y., will graduate in 2009 with a degree in physics. The aspiring nanoscale biologist was attracted to the University at Albany by its “No. 1 nanotechnology program.” With the rising expenses associated with higher education, Behnke, 24, finds the scholarship most helpful. “The additional financial support is helping me to stay in school and lessens the burden of paying back loans following graduation,” he says.
Elena Rodrigues Anderson, B.S. ’82, and her husband, University at Albany Foundation Board Director Ted Anderson, B.S. ’82, established a Presidential Scholarship in her name several years ago to repay the University for the opportunities it afforded them.
