    #UAlbanyGivingTuesday Cultivates Donors through Philanthropy Challenge

    On Dec. 1, The University at Albany Foundation will again look to inspire the University community and beyond to show its support through a 24-hour giving challenge, known as UAlbany Giving Tuesday. This event joins a nationally recognized campaign designed to highlight the benefits of charity and occurs annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.

    Chemist’s Technique Can Identify a Fingerprint as Male or Female

    A team of researchers led by UAlbany chemistry professor Jan Halámek has discovered a straightforward concept for identifying whether a culprit is male or female. It’s based on content in fingerprints – specifically amino acids. According to known literature, amino acid levels in the sweat of females are about twice as high as in males.

    UAlbany transfer students, led by the University’s Transfer Transition Leaders (TTLs), have donated and assembled approximately 100 care packages for the Senior Services of Albany’s Meals on Wheels Program. The group’s care packages will be delivered to local residents on Thanksgiving Day.

    It was a historic weekend for UAlbany sports teams as women’s soccer capped their best season Division I history Friday night, losing to Penn State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile the women's basketball team opened their campaign with a 64-49 victory over visiting Pepperdine on Sunday.
