April 20th, 2006 - Spring '07 T-Shirt Contest Results

The Information Studies Student Association is selling Information Studies T-Shirts. The winning t-shirt was designed by Stephen Maher, a student in the department.

Price: $15.00

Design: Black T-shirt with white and purple text "collage." The graphic features words like: "Librarian," "Information Scientist," "Student" and "Researcher." The design is posted in the student lounge, Draper 113, and on bulletin boards through-out Draper Hall.

To Order: Print and fill out the order form, including your name, phone number, and t-shirt size. Submit the form, along with $15.00 ** CASH only ** to the Info Studies Office in Draper 113. If you need extra order forms, they're available in both the Student Lounge and Draper 113.

You must order your t-shirt by April 20th. T-shirts will be available for pick-up the first week in May.

T-Shirt proceeds benefit student events, such as the Department's Commencement Ceremonies, orientations,

December 18th, 2006

The Fall 2006 semester was wrapped up. We are in the planning stages for the Spring 2007 semester. We are also still working on the Tech Drive during the winter break, so be sure to check that out.

The treasurer position was filled last meeting! The technology drive has some hurdles but it is still on track. The NYLA 2006 conference is a popular subject.

The first ISSA meeting of the semester went great. We had a larger student turn-out than any meeting last semester, with two waves of visitors. We are currently planning a better meeting time for the next meeting. As always, if you missed the meeting but were interested, you can check out the minutes recorded. The treasurer officer role is still vacant, if you are interested in participating.

The Fall 2006 semester is here! Our first meeting is in September. We have at least one officer vacancy open. Don't waste any time getting involved in the new Information Studies Student Association for the 2006-2007 academic year.

May 16th, 2006

Don't throw out your used computer - DONATE IT!

The Department of Information Studies is holding a used technology drive. The purpose of this drive is to solicit donations of used computer equipment to be refurbished and then donated to the Sunnyside Center, located in Troy, NY. The Sunnyside Center offers children the opportunity to enhance their quality of life by providing them with a safe, supportive atmosphere, while participating in recreational and educational activities.

April 10th, 2006

The IS-SA is in charge of planning the Spring Commencement for the IS department. This includes graduating Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. students. The department's commecement ceremony is to be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 20th in the main theater of the performing arts center. We need student voulenteers on Wed., May 17th from 11:00 - 1:00 pm to help fold programs, and at least 5 voluenteers on Saturday, May 20th to act as ushers and to hand out programs.

The organization is back in action from a long period of inactivity. The new website is up, although incomplete. We're in the process of migrating most of the old website data into the new one, along with our current documents.
